40 Years Ago This Month: October 1972
R.H. Philips to Join FN Staff

A new annual magazine for the Pacific Coast fishing industry will appear during the first week of February 1974, and will be mailed to all subscribers of The Fishermen’s News. The new magazine, Pacific Fisheries Review, will be edited and published by Richard H. Philips, former West Coast Editor of National Fisherman, and prior to that, editor of Pacific Fisherman and Pacific Fisherman’s Yearbook.

Pacific Fisheries Review will combine statistical summary of the 1973 fish production and historical comparisons with strong editorial articles contributed by management and industry leaders from the major Pacific Coast fisheries.

For more than a dozen years, Philips has been reporting on the Pacific Coast fishing industry and during that time has produced each year a statistical and editorial annual in addition to his monthly feature work in National Fisherman and in Pacific Fisherman.

During the months of November, December and January, Philips will concentrate on the production of Pacific Fisheries Review. On February first, he will join the staff of The Fishermen’s News, contributing his editorial skills to this journal.
