ADF&G Veteran Leaving Commercial Fisheries Post

Jeff Regnart, whose career with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game spans more than 30 years, is resigning the post on Oct. 2, Deputy Commissioner Kevin Brooks said Sept. 4.

We hate to see him go, but also understand that personal reasons will take him outside of the state, Brooks said.

Plans are to fill the post as soon as possible, and the department is asking those who are interested or know someone who is to send in a resume with three professional references and a letter of interest.

Regnart, who holds a masters degree in fishery management from Humboldt State University, began his career with ADF&G as a fish and wildlife technician in 1984.

From there he worked his way up as a biologist for several years to being appointed as supervisor for the states central region including Bristol Bay, Cook Inlet and Prince William Sound in 2003.
In February 2011, then Fisheries Commissioner Core Campbell named Regnart to serve as director of the Division of Commercial Fisheries.

Regnart has also served on numerous fisheries panels and forums.
